The Hungarian Government and Kühne+Nagel have concluded a strategic cooperation agreement. The Swiss-based freight forwarding and logistics company already has significant logistical capacities in Hungary, and will regard our country as an important partner in its international strategy also in the future, since its excellent geographical location and advanced infrastructure together represent a major competitive advantage for both Hungary and the companies present here.

Kühne+Nagel offers a wide range of freight transport and logistics services to its principals, transporting goods by air, sea and land. It is present on seven sites at five locations in our country. In addition, with a recently competed project, it is expanding its presence in Hungary with a 23,000 square metres international logistics warehouse and office complex. The development implemented in Páty, Pest County is a joint reference project with the state-owned Nemzeti Ipari Park Üzemeltető és Fejlesztő (NIPÜF) Zrt. working under the brand name of Inpark, under which Kühne+Nagel will provide a wide range of logistics services to a global automotive company. With the project, 160 new jobs will be created, but hiring additional staff is also included in the plans for the next three years.

With an increase of 6.7%, the gross added value of the transport and warehousing sector was nearly HUF 2 billion in 2016. The share of the sector in the total gross added value in Hungary was 6.5% in 2016, while its number of employees was nearly 300,000. The transport activity plays a major role in the foreign trade of services: in the first half of 2017, the export of services by the transport sector reached EUR 2.85 billion, increasing the share of the sector to 26.6% in the total export of services.

The now 76 strategic partners provide jobs to more than 170,000 people, and currently employ 18,000 more workers than at the date of conclusion of the Strategic Cooperation Agreements. The government is currently negotiating with seven companies also active in Hungary, which may further increase the number of strategic partners.
