Eligible for the simplified naturalization process is:
who was a Hungarian citizen him-/herself or who likely to have Hungarian ancestors
OR
who is married to a Hungarian citizen for at least 10 years, or who is married to a Hungarian citizen for at least five years and is raising a common child with the Hungarian citizen.
AND
- applicants over the age of 14 have Hungarian language skills, which must be demonstrated in a conversation with the consular officer when submitting the application
- applicants may not be convicted under Hungarian law and pose no threat to public safety and public order
The application can only be made in person and by appointment.
